AI transcription comparison: price, features, languages, and use cases
VOCAP is cheaper (from 1 EUR/h, no subscription), has much better Spanish support, and is GDPR compliant as a European company. Otter.ai is still better if you need a live bot that joins your Zoom/Teams meetings in real time, primarily in English, and work in the US.
See comparisonPure AI transcription vs. full audio/video editor
These are different products: VOCAP is transcription + AI analysis (summary, tasks, decisions) as a one-time purchase from 1.99 EUR. Descript is an audio/video editor with transcription as a secondary feature, from $24/month subscription. If you only need the text, VOCAP is cheaper and faster.
See comparisonAI transcription with analysis vs. premium human transcription
VOCAP is AI transcription with analysis (summary, tasks) from 1 EUR/h. Rev sells two products: AI at about $15/h with no analysis, and human transcription at $1.50/min (~$90/h) ideal for critical accuracy. If you need AI, VOCAP is 7-15x cheaper. For exact legal accuracy, Rev human is the reference.
See comparisonComparison built for journalists and editorial teams
VOCAP starts at 1.99 EUR one-time, while Trint requires a subscription from $80/month (~$960/year). Trint has a polished collaborative editor built for newsrooms; VOCAP is cheaper and faster if you transcribe and export without needing real-time collaboration.

VOCAP is cheaper (from 1 EUR/h with AI summary, tasks, and decisions bundled) and is GDPR compliant as a European company. Sonix has more enterprise integrations and a longer language list but charges $10/h or $22/user/month, with AI analysis on the top tier only.
See comparisonMost "VOCAP vs X" pages out there are disguised rankings where the winner is whoever pays for the article. Not here. These comparisons are written by us, the VOCAP team, and precisely because of that we explicitly tell you in every one when we are NOT the best choice. If you need integrated video editing use Descript, if you need a human reviewing word-by-word use Rev, if you live inside Zoom use Otter. VOCAP wins where it wins: pay-per-use with no subscription, EU servers for GDPR, multilingual AI transcription from EUR 1/hour.
The prices and features in each comparison come from each competitor's public page at the time of the last update (the date is at the bottom of every article). We sign no NDAs, we do not test private beta versions and we accept no sponsorship. When the homepage and pricing page of a competitor say different things, we cite both. If you spot something outdated, write to us: we fix it.
No. They are written by the VOCAP team based on each competitor's public pages. We do not receive payment, affiliate commissions or sign NDAs with any of them.
Fully unbiased, no — we are VOCAP. What we try to be is honest. Every comparison has a "When to choose X (not VOCAP)" section listing scenarios in which the competitor is the better choice. If we say "choose Descript if you need integrated video editing", it is because it is true.
We review every comparison every 30-60 days. The last-update date is at the bottom of every article. If you find an outdated price, write to us and we fix it the same day.
If you need a human transcriber (certified verbatim legal/medical work), integrated video editing (Descript), Zoom-native workflow (Otter is built into the Zoom client), or a mature API for very high constant volume (Rev/Sonix have more mature APIs). For everything else, VOCAP is usually cheaper and more private.

We started with the most-searched names: Otter, Rev, Descript, Trint and Sonix. They are the ones people compare before deciding. As we get requests we add others (Happy Scribe, Notta, Fireflies, etc).
