Confidentiality and GDPR
VOCAP is a Spanish company. To transcribe and analyse each recording, the audio goes through OpenAI and the text through Anthropic, two US providers; the audio is deleted from our servers when done and your account keeps the transcript and its analysis, not the audio. Before uploading recordings with client data, assess with your firm whether this processing fits your duty of confidentiality and GDPR, and let the client know you use a transcription tool, as you would with a confidentiality-bound assistant. Frequently asked questions
Is an AI-generated transcript admissible as evidence?
In most jurisdictions, the evidence is the original recording (audio or video). The transcript is a working tool to locate and cite passages, not a replacement for the audio. It is the same as making your own transcript by hand: it helps follow the discussion, but the evidentiary source remains the recording.
Is it compatible with attorney-client privilege?
That depends on your own and your firm's assessment. What we can tell you is how the data is handled: the audio goes through OpenAI and the text through Anthropic (US) to transcribe and analyse it, the audio is deleted from our servers when done, and your account keeps the transcript and its analysis. Let the client know about the tool, as you would with a human assistant.
How accurate is it on legal audio?
With clear audio (close mic, no overlapping voices) the text comes out clean. In multi-speaker hearings, with noise or diverse accents, errors can appear, especially in proper names and technical terms. For any passage you plan to quote literally, always check it against the audio.
Does it identify speakers (judge, prosecutor, counsel, witness)?
No. The transcript comes out as continuous text, without separating who says what; you add labels ("Judge", "Witness 1") on review. In the analysis, tasks carry an owner when the person is named in the conversation.
How much does it cost for a law firm?
